A CONCERT of classical music in Wokingham next month will include a violin solo from a rising young musician.
At Crowthorne Symphony Orchestra’s (CSO) March concert, Elizaveta Tyun will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.
A graduate of Chetham’s School of Music, and of the Royal College of Music, Elizaveta has won first prizes in a number of international competitions.
She has taken part in the London Symphony Orchestra String Experience Scheme and BBC Symphony Orchestra Pathways Scheme, and has been invited to participate in LSO and BBCSO concerts, as well as concerts by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra.
She has now joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra as a First Violin, but next month Wokingham audience members will be able to hear her play with the borough’s CSO.
Other items on the CSO programme are Ravel’s 1922 adaptation of Mussorgsky’s Pictures At An Exhibition, Debussy’s Prelude A L’Apres Midi D’un Faune, which was first performed in Paris in 1912, and Holst’s ballet music for The Perfect Fool, a one act opera first seen at the Covent Garden Theatre, London in1923.
Crowthorne Symphony Orchestra, directed by Robert Roscoe, draws players of all ages, and of all walks of life, from a wide area within the borough.
It describes itself as an enthusiastic, friendly group who make music for enjoyment’s sake, but who take rehearsals, practice and concerts seriously.
Competent players, including those that haven’t played for a while, are welcomed.
The group rehearses in Wokingham, and performs three concerts a year at All Saints Church, Wokingham, along with a family Christmas concert at St John’s Church, Crowthorne.
Their March concert will take place at All Saints Church, on Saturday, March 28.
Doors open at 7.30pm, with tickets on sale for £17 for adults, (18s and under enter free of charge).
