A BOROUGH school enjoyed a day of lessons based on the 1980s.
In May, Hawkedon Primary School pupils and staff celebrated their school’s 40th birthday, with a special assembly, and learning activities based on 1984.
Past staff and pupils came to join the festivities, and to see how the school has evolved through the years.
It first opened in September 1984 under the Headship of Mrs Toynbee.
There were then just 80 children.
And with the school’s permanent site still incomplete, the first lessons were carried out in Woosehill.
Also attending the 40th birthday celebrations was Mr Youd, headteacher in 2012, when Hawkedon expanded to its current three form entry size of more than 600 children.
More than 600 pupils and staff joined in the May birthday celebrations, which included an 80’s-themed street party with food, dancing and singing to the music of in-house DJ NikNak.
