THE BOARD of governors of a Wokingham independent senior school is delighted to announce the appointment of its new headteacher.
Mr Edward Swanwick will join Luckley House School from September 2025.
He replaces Mrs Areti Bizior, who has been at the school since September 2020, and who is moving to the Dean Close Foundation in Cheltenham with her family.
Mr Edward Swanwick joins Luckley House from Westbourne School where he is currently the vice principal.
Prior to this, he was senior deputy head at Toowoomba Anglican School in Australia. Professional roles in the UK have included deputy head (pastoral) and designated safeguarding lead at Clifton College in Bristol and assistant head (head of boarding) at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire.
In addition to his current role, Mr Swanwick is also a governor of Sibford School, Oxfordshire, an independent coeducational all-through boarding and day school.
A Cambridge graduate with a Master of Educational Leadership and School Improvement, Mr Swanwick was raised in Australia, where he obtained his first undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts in English and Politics, and a Bachelor of Education, both from the University of Queensland.
He said: “I feel honoured to have been appointed as the next head of Luckley House School.
“Throughout the recruitment process, I was continually impressed by the warmth of its community, the strength of its Christian ethos, and the ambitious vision the school holds for its future.
“Luckley House’s values resonate deeply with my own – particularly the commitment to holistic education, strong pastoral care, academic ambition and the development of young people of outstanding character.
“I very much look forward to working with the pupils, parents, staff, governors and alumni, building upon the school’s many successes and contributing to its exciting next chapter.”
Chair of Governors Mrs Clair Tao said: “We look forward to working with Mr Swanwick and the wider staff to deliver the next chapter of Luckley’s strategic vision to provide an outstanding holistic education, preparing pupils to be ready for the wider world and all the challenges and opportunities that face them.
“Mr Swanwick joins Luckley at a hugely exciting time in its development, and we are very pleased to welcome him and his family to Luckley House.”
