Wokingham Town Ladies won their first match of the season on Sunday afternoon.
Languishing bottom of Division Three South of the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League, the Ladies recorded a 5-3 win over Wargrave Women & Girls at Emmbrook School in what was their tenth league game of the season, and 13th in all competitions.
On target for Wokingham Town, nicknamed the Sumas, were Bridget Lockwood, Charlotte Loughrey, Genevieve Richards, Sarah Furkins and Caitlin Taylor. Bede Paaroah-Lunn scored all three for the visitors.
The team finished third in last season’s development division, and were subsequently promoted in what was its first season after being re-formed.
