Next Thursday (June 19) is Clean Air Day, which is the UK’s largest air pollution campaign and focuses on reducing emissions from transport.
As well as contributing to the climate emergency, harmful air pollutants in vehicle exhausts cause a range of health problems – especially in children.
Some car journeys are unavoidable, but walking, cycling or taking the train or bus all have numerous benefits where it’s realistic to do so.
These options are better for the environment, they’re cheaper and they reduce congestion by limiting unnecessary vehicle trips, especially shorter ones.
You can find out more about the alternatives to driving, with timetables, maps and other information, on the My Journey Wokingham website.
