A MAN has appeared in court charged with disturbing the two minutes’ silence in Wokingham on Remembrance Sunday.
Kurk Wood, 56, of no fixed abode, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on November 12 charged with using threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
The charge relates to an incident on November 11 when the remembrance service in Market Place, led by Wokingham Town Mayor Cllr Philip Mirfin and his deputy, Cllr Gwynneth Hewetson, was disrupted.
Mr Wood denies the charge, and has been remanded on bail to reappear at the same court on February 22 2016.
