THE summer of 2020 might seem some way away, but already Newbury Racecourse is making plans for its annual Party in the Paddock by announcing its first act on the bill: McFly.
The group, who had seven UK number ones, will be appearing at the racecourse on Saturday, July 18.
Their set will take place after racing has ended for the day.
McFly need little introduction – one of the biggest names of the 21st century pop music scene, they broke the Beatles’ long-standing record for being the youngest band ever to have a debut album go straight to number one.
Having taken a break after touring as McBusted — the band will performs some of their best-loved songs including All About You, Obviously, Star Girl, One for the Radio and Shine a Light.
Harriet Collins, director of Marcomms for Newbury Racecourse, said: “We are really excited to be announcing McFly as our first music act for 2020 and hopefully will attract families of all ages. They join an elite roster of other artists we have enjoyed over the years.
“We are always looking to attract acts which complement the excellent racing taking place and are in no doubt that Dougie, Harry, Danny and Tom will ‘obviously’ get everyone to their feet at the end of the day.”
Tickets go on sale on Friday, December 20, via with an early bird presale offer available to existing customers from today.
Premier prices are £45 early bird, £54 advance and £60 on the day, while grandstand prices are £33.75 at early bird rates, £41.50 advance and £45 on the day, with children aged four to 12 paying £25 and under fours getting in free.
