A LOCAL charity that helps children with additional needs is celebrating after receiving a large grant.
The Me2 Club, which is based in Woodley, works with youngsters aged five to 19 across Wokingham borough, enabling them to take part in mainstream activities through a network of volunteers and helpers.
It has received more than £4,000 from The Earley Charity, partly after being recommended by Reading East MP Matt Rodda.
Liz McDaniel, Me2’s fundraising development officer, said: “When he visited, Matt said that we should apply to The Earley Charity and mention his visit – we did this and have just heard that they are awarding us £4,390. This is fantastic news; thanks again for everything.”
And Mr Rodda was equally delighted that his visit had been so helpful to the charity.
“I’m really pleased that Me2 have been able to secure this much needed financial award from The Earley Charity,” he said.
“Me2 provides an invaluable service which helps our younger ones participate in and enjoy hobbies and pastimes that perhaps they wouldn’t be able to due to various limitations faced by children and young people with additional needs or disabilities.
“This charitable award will help the fantastic work of the Me2 Club to continue.”
