Wokingham’s member of parliament, Clive Jones, paid a visit to the new town centre offices of his local media organisation this week.
Jones spent time chatting with the editor and staff at Wokingham Today, following its move to a new location in Peach Street last month.
He said: “The local media are an incredibly vital part of politics and the community.
“It is very important for local newspapers and media to keep local councillors and politicians in check.
“Local media also plays a crucial role, along with the MP and councillors, in representing the voice of the local community, and advocating for community issues.
“I am proud that in Wokingham we have a rich history of strong local media.”
Andy Preston, editor of Wokingham Today and its sister publication Reading Today, said: “It was a pleasure to have Clive with us, and to learn more about our operations.”
Having established the business as a social enterprise in 2018, publisher David Riley said the move to new offices represents a significant investment in hyper-local media, and is an important milestone in the growth of the newspaper and its online media business.
