RESIDENTS of Emmbrook will now feel a little more reassured after a public access defibrillator was installed.
The unit, which was financed by surplus funds from the Emmbrook Village Hall Management Committee, was installed in the entrance to the hall, in Emmbrook Road.
Members of the South Central Ambulance Service Community First Responder Team, sourced the unit.
Chair of the committee, Peggy Johns said: “There are two defibrillators in the village, but they are not accessible to the public so we thought it would be a good idea to have one installed here.
“The unit cost around £2,000, which was paid for by the Management Committee’s surplus funds, and it is our way of giving something back to the community.”
Paramedic Team Leader and Community First Responder Coordinator for Wokingham, Nicola Wright said: “We would like to thank the committee for purchasing the defibrillator, and to DJ Mace & Son Electrical Contractors who installed it free of charge.
“We will be holding training sessions in the new year for residents who would like to know how to use it.”
