A NEW centre to support children in the Wokingham area with special education needs opens this week.
It will welcome children, parents and teachers from more than 20 local schools to an open day on Wednesday.
Ali Sinfield, a Special Educational Needs Coordinator at Robert Piggott Junior School in Wargrave, said: “The current resources in the Wokingham area are stretched, and there is a clear gap in provision for children requiring the specialised support that uReach is uniquely positioned to deliver.
“Their work is vital in ensuring that all children, particularly those with additional needs, receive the comprehensive and tailored support necessary to thrive.
“The positive impact they will have cannot be overstated.”
Launched by The uGroup – which includes Berkshire-based education support providers uReach, uSports and uKids – the new uReach SEND centre is located at Hatch Farm, Sindlesham.
It will address the rising demand of specialised primary special education needs support for children in the Wokingham area, catering mainly for primary school age pupils with ASD and ADHD to support them with specific needs which cannot be met by mainstream education.
Jo Iremonger, uReach’s Director of Inclusion, added: “We are incredibly proud to have brought this incredible building back to life, transforming what was a disused office for five years into a safe and nurturing space.
“This centre has everything a young person needs to make a true difference to their learning journey. It is a vital, local resource, ready to be a sanctuary and a launchpad for so many children in Wokingham and the surrounding area.”
Children, parents and teachers from more than 20 borough schools can visit the centre, at Hatch Farm, on Wednesday afternoon, October 15, from 4pm to 5.30pm.
