THE next phase of work at Peach Place will see buildings start to emerge.
In a festive newsletter from contractors Dawnus, the construction company outlined what has recently happened at the landmark regeneration development project.
It notes: “The new façade has been completed to the apartments over Costa and Superdrug and the scaffolding has been removed as planned. We are now refurbishing these apartments ahead of the new build works across the site.”
And the new buildings which will form part of the new-look Peach Street when completed are now taking shape.
“The roof trusses are currently being installed to the Anchor unit next to the Redan Public House, these will form three impressive gables facing Peach Street, each with feature diamond pattern brickwork,” the newsletter noted.
“The light steel framing and brickwork has commenced to both buildings facing Peach Street and will emerge above the site boundary hoarding next year.”
Work has also started on building four townhouses and a new shop unit on Rose Street, next to the former Strange The Jewellers shop (this has moved to Bush Walk).
The newsletter promises: “You will see these buildings appear over the hoarding early in the new year.”
And there’s more good news from Dawnus: the footpath in Rose Street will reopen early in the New Year.
Dawnus’ workers will now have a week off for Christmas: they stopped work for Christmas today (Friday, December 22) and will start work again on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
