Plans have been submitted for a change of use of a town centre retail unit to include restaurant and takeaway use.
Landlords Columbia Threadneedle applied for the change at Unit 2a, Bridge Retail Park property on Finchampstead Road. The unit is currently occupied by Carpetright.
The application proposed a change of use to a mixed restaurant/takeaway use. It said this was to “improve the re-letting potential of the unit.”
The application noted that no physical work would be carried out on the property.
The application stated: “The existing Retail Park has a car park comprising 77 car parking spaces, which can be accessed via an existing priority junction from Finchampstead Road, and which benefits from a right turn lane facility.
“The proposal would likely result in a slight increase in parking demand in the region of a few vehicles which would have no material effect on the existing car park.”
The consultation period for the application ended on December 1. No comments were received to object to, or to support, the application.
Neither Columbia Threadneedle or Carpetright have responded to requests for comment.
A decision has yet to be made.
