READING FC succumbed to a second consecutive home defeat, losing 1-0 to Millwall on Saturday afternoon.
A mix-up between Naby Sarr and Tom McIntyre in the ninth minute saw Joe Lumley fell Zian Flemming with the striker bearing down on goal.
The referee adjudged the contact to have been inside the box and awarded Millwall a penalty, which Andreas Voglsammer fired home confidently.
Despite a frenetic finish, Paul Ince’s men were ultimately unable to respond.
Joe Lumley 5.5: Gave away the penalty, but it would be harsh to blame him given the mess which happened in front of him in the build-up. Was hardly troubled otherwise.
Andy Yiadom 5: Lively in the opening exchanges, looking to bomb down the right, but looked increasingly less confident as the half went on. Was replaced at the interval.
Tom Holmes 5: Bit shaky at times. Adopted decent positions higher up the pitch, particularly in the first half, but couldn’t put in any deliveries of quality.
Scott Dann 5: A quiet display from the defender who, like Yiadom, was taken off at half time.
Naby Sarr 4: Played a big part in Millwall’s opener and had a couple of really rash moments, Grew into the game somewhat.
Nesta Guinness-Walker 5: Better defensively. Was unable to get forward as much as he would have liked.
Tom McIntyre 4: Just didn’t affect the game. Millwall played the ball around him and he struggled to link up the play.
Jeff Hendrick 5: Quiet. Didn’t do an awful lot of note, but it was a relatively tidy performance. Made himself available as much as he could and played with one or two touches.
Tom Ince 5: Not his best showing, but the endeavour was there as always. Got a few shots away from range, but his set piece deliveries were not at his usually high standard.
Andy Carroll 5: On the receiving end of a barrage of strong challenges. Struggled to get into the game and service into him was limited.
Shane Long 5: Worked hard but just couldn’t get the ball to stick. Was replaced by Casadei, and didn’t look awfully impressed when he came off.
Substitutes:
Liam Moore 6: Looked solid after coming on and was far more active than Dann had been.
Amadou Mbengue 6: Added some much needed pace into Reading’s back line.
Cesare Casadei 5: Really tidy performance after coming on. Lost the ball a couple of times, but recycled the ball well otherwise.
Lucas Joao 5: Was the right substitution to make with Reading putting balls into the box late on, but couldn’t really affect the came.
Femi Azeez: N/A
