What began as an April Foods Day prank by a Woodley business could actually turn into a lucrative business opportunity.
Mark Ashwell, CEO of Trademark Windows, revealed exclusively to Wokingham Today on April 1 that his company was creating a patent for a new form of double glazing that allowed tropical fish to inhabit the gap between the glass windows.
The prank, published online and picked up by fellow industry organisations, resulted in a number of sales leads for the company from interested homeowners who were keen to know more.
It was only revealed after noon on April 1 that the story, and the idea. was a work of fiction.
Mark told Wokingham Today: “What started as a quirky idea for an April Fool might actually be something we seriously look at.
“I had quite a few calls and messages, and even one from a high-ranking industry executive who congratulated me on our latest innovation.”
