Bracknell MP Peter Swallow has labelled a property developer as “dishonest” and “disrespectful” after its new property for sale in Bracknell Forest as being located in Wokingham.
Writing to the CEO of developer Hill Group, the MP said: “ Last year, I wrote to you to raise unacceptable deforestation at your Elmstead development in Great Hollands.
“You admitted the Hill Group had cut down trees they were not permitted to.
“As you will be more than aware, the development in question is in Bracknell Forest.
“Sadly, it seems that you were not content with disrespecting the forest. Now, the Hill Group is determined to disrespect Bracknell, too.
“I am proud to be the MP for Bracknell, one of the original generation of new towns built to address an urgent housing crisis following the Second World War.
“Bracknell Forest is a fantastic place to live, as demonstrated by the 2025 UK Better Lives Index, which has ranked our borough as the fourth best place to live in the country.
“Great Hollands in the south of our town is an amazing community, with access to fantastic amenities and green spaces.
“Despite this, the Hill Group is advertising this development as being in Wokingham.
“Your website even boasts that “living at Elmstead puts you right at the heart of Wokingham’s most beautiful outdoor spaces”, alongside a picture of Great Hollands Recreation Ground, Buckler’s Forest and South Hill Park.
“All of these are in Bracknell Forest.
“If you are going to build homes in Bracknell, do not sell them as being in Wokingham. It is dishonest and disrespectful.
“You cannot expect to rely on everything that makes Bracknell great to sell your homes, if you then wish to pretend those homes are in an entirely different town.”
