Reading FC interim manager Paul Ince admitted that Yakou Meite is not ready to play 90 minutes since returning from his ACL injury.
He admitted that Meite is not ready to play 90 minutes.
“He’s had an acl injury. We got gauged by the physios and sports scientists and he’s been out for nearly nine months.
“I watched the game where he started at Peterborough. He wasn’t ready. He was nowhere near ready.
“As much as it’s all hands to the pump, you’ve got to think about someone’s career.
“With Yakou, we have to be patient. He looks happy, he’s sharp and is getting stronger and will be involved in some shape or form on Saturday.”
Ince also discussed Lucas Joao and Ovie Ejaria and their respective importance to the team.
He continued: “He’s a goalscorer. He’s very laid back, I love him, I think he’s great.
“In any team to be successful, you need a goalscorer. Unfortunately he’s scoring goals at the wrong end of the table but we need him to keep us up.
“I’d like to see Thomas (Ince) get some goals, and Junior (Hoilett) to and I’m sure they will but he’s the main part of the team and is integral to what we do.
“We’re not going to ask him to run all across the field but he is trying to work harder and we’ve seen that in the last couple of games he’s trying to get back into shape but primarily he’s the one that will put the ball in the net.
“He’s been out for a few days, he’s not been well so we will see how he goes.”
