READING FC have confirmed that six first-team players will depart the club when their contracts expire this summer.

Those among the list of players who will leave this summer include: Scott Dann, Luke Southwood, Shane Long, Liam Moore, Lucas Joao and Dejan Tetek.

The Royals have stated that they have triggered a clause in Nesta Guinness-Walker’s deal that will keep him at the club for another year.

Meanwhile, new contracts have been offered to both Yakou Meite and Junior Hoilett.

The club are also hoping to keep Amadou Mbengue who has been offered a new two-year deal.

All six loan players who were with the Royals during the 2022/23 campaign, Jeff Hendrick, Mamadou Loum, Baba Rahman, Joe Lumley, Tyrese Fornah and Cesare Casadei have returned to their parent clubs.

Amongst the under 21s squad, goalkeeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke has been offered a three year deal and defender John Clarke has been offered a one year deal.

The club has also retained Hamid Abdel-Salam, Adrian Akande, Harvey Collins, Matt Rowley and Michael Stickland.

Meanwhile, Lui Bradbury, Ethan Burnett, Josh Green, Nahum Melvin-Lambert, Kian Leavy, Claudio Osorio and Rashawn Scott have been released.

Head of football operations Mark Bowen said: “Last season ended little more than a week ago, but next season has to start now.

At this time of the year, making difficult decisions on how we begin to shape our squad for the challenge of our next campaign is never easy but essential in the planning for 2023-24.

“Loanees, first team regulars, Academy hopefuls…I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank every single player who has given his all for the crest and we wish those with whom we part company the very best of luck in the next stage of their career.”
