Reading FC’s academy is one of the top 10 best in the country, according to research carried out by OLBG’s best academy index.
The Royals have boasted an excellent academy set-up for decades which has produced several stars who have gone on to first-team success with the club and beyond.
Most notably in recent years, Michael Olise rose through the ranks with the academy, broke into the first-team before moving to Premier League Crystal Palace for £8million. He continues to go from strength to strength and was bought by European giants Bayern Munich in the summer for more than £50million.
OLBG ranked the clubs based on five different categories: number of academy graduates in the squad, league appearances, matches per player, total player value and the percentage of squad value from academy players.
Championship side Swansea City came out on top with a score of 93.3 out of 100.
The top 10 was then made up of Blackburn, Manchester United, Liverpool, Brighton, Bristol CIty, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Wigan and Reading.
The data shows that Reading have 13 registered academy graduates among their squad with the academy contributing to 29.8% of the value of the club.
