Do you know someone who’s gone above and beyond for the local community and deserves recognition for their work?
Twyford Together is calling for nominations for this year’s community awards. And they need Wokingham borough’s help in acknowledging which businesses, volunteers and events will scoop the prizes.
Categories include the Edwin Ackers Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Young Achiever of the Year (aged 11-15), Volunteer of the Year, Event of the Year, Community Group of the Year, Community Sports Award, and Environment Initiative of the Year.
The Twyford Together Awards will also be presented to a group, business or individual who has made an outstanding contribution to Twyford Together activities over the past year.
Executive committee member for the organisation, Gordon Storey, said: “The awards are a brilliant opportunity for unsung heroes of our community to receive the recognition they deserve.
“The awards don’t mean anything unless there are nominees. A lot of hard work and dedication occurs behind the scenes of Wokingham and in most cases we don’t know about these impressive efforts until someone tells us.”
The deadline for nominations is Friday, June 14, after which a panel of judges will select the winners and runners up of each award. Winners will be invited to a prize-giving ceremony taking place at Buratta’s gastro pub, Ruscombe on Monday, July 15.
To nominate someone you know, log on www.twyfordtogether.org to complete the online submission form or retrieve a hard copy from HF Newberry’s, Twyford. Any individual, group or business nominated must be based within the boundary of the RG10 postcode.
