The next steps for a new Turkish restaurant opening in Wokingham town centre have been revealed.
Opuz Kitchen will be opening shortly in Elms Walk. The family-run business offers a selection of authentic Turkish food, including shish, skewers, saksukka and sharing platters, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. It will also serve alcoholic drinks from its bar including cocktails, beers and wine.
It comes as the third site for the business, which already has restaurants in Watford and Hemel Hempstead.
The business has applied to Wokingham Borough Council for a premises licence. Ibrahim Opuz plans to sell alcohol, play live music, recorded music and supply late night refreshment to customers once open.
The application indicates alcohol would be sold between 11am until 11:20pm from Monday to Tuesday, and then from 11am until 12pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The owners would then sell alcohol from 11am until the earlier time of 10:30pm on Sundays.
The business is also looking to have live music on a Friday and Saturday, from 11am until midnight. There are further hopes to play recorded music from Monday to Thursday until 11:30pm, on Friday and Saturday until 12pm, and on Sundays until 10pm.
Owners have applied for a late night refreshment licence which would run between Monday and Saturday from 11pm until 12pm.
This kind of licence is required for premises that supply hot foot or hot drink to the public late at night.
Public serving bodies including Thames Valley Police, Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Environmental Health will be consulted.
If any objections are made on the licence, the decision could be taken to councillors as part of a Wokingham Borough Council licensing committee, who will have the final say.
The date for the opening of Opuz Kitchen has yet to be revealed.
