HALF TERM fun is set to return to a borough village in the form of a hunt for a range of clever comic creations in residents’ front gardens.
Twyford Scarecrow Trail is back to entertain children and families, and this year the theme is children’s literature.
The event offers people a chance to take a walk through the village spotting scarecrows created by local residents, businesses and community groups, showcasing their creativity and imagination.
Last year there were 60 scarecrows to discover, and this year organisers are expecting more.
Each creation is handmade to entertain families on holiday, amusing both the makers and the finders, and sparking children’s creativity and imaginations.
Local businesses have been encouraged to join in the fun by creating their own scarecrows to display, and village shops will be open, offering a range of treats and drinks, ensuring that visitors are well-fuelled for their adventure.
Above all, say organisers, the Twyford Scarecrow Trail embodies the spirit of village community and togetherness, and promises to be a highlight of this year’s half-term activities.
It involves the whole community, and raises funds for the village’s two local schools Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).
Polehampton Infant and Junior Schools, and The Colleton Primary School, will use the money for important educational initiatives that directly benefit their students.
To take part, people should buy a printed map showing the scarecrow locations.
These will be on sale at Grapevine Estate Agents, London Road, Twyford (9am-5pm) and Ola Coffee Shop, Waltham Road, Twyford (8am-3pm) during the week of the event.
Costing £3 each, they are key to navigating the trail and planning a route.
The event will take place from Monday October 28 through to Saturday November 2.
