A MUSIC group will be holding a come and sing day.
Anyone interested can join them to sing music by Tomas Luis de Victoria.
Reading Bach Choir will be learning and singing his requiem mass, composed in 1583.
Led by musical director Daniel Mahoney, the event will also offer a chance to gain insights about the music and the composer.
The choir will be working from now until November on music for their next concert, when they will be performing another of de Victoria’s requiems, Bach’s motet Jesu Meine Freude, and Schütz’s Selig Sind Die Toten.
The concert will be at St Andrew’s Church, Caversham, on Saturday, November 25.
The choir performs a wide range of choral music, ancient and modern, with a particular focus on challenging and rewarding new music. Recent concerts have included works by Caroline Shaw, Reena Esmail, Margaret Bonds and Saunder Choi as well as more familiar composers such as Byrd, Tomkins, Vaughan Williams and J.S. Bach.
The group is looking for new members with a high standard of singing and musicianship, who are interested in challenging themselves musically, in a friendly and aspirational environment.
The group rehearses in St Andrews Church, Caversham, on Tuesdays at 7.30pm
Their come and sing event takes place at Caversham Heights Methodist Church, on Saturday, October 14, from 10am until 4pm.
Tickets for the day cost £25 for adults, or £5 for under 18s.
Music and tea and coffee through the day are included in the price, but people are asked to bring their own lunch.
