An event will take place in Finchampstead on Sunday to celebrate the history of British speedway.
Not many people know that California Country Park on Nine Mile Ride was once the home of one of the south of England’s top speedway teams.
California Poppies raced at the venue from the 1930s until the 1950s.
The Friends of Speedway will be hosting the 18th ‘California-in-England speedway reunion’’ on Sunday from 11am until 4pm.
There will be a selection of speedway bikes, and visitors will be shown the old speedway track with the original concrete starting grid.
Attendees are also asked to bring any speedway memorabilia, such as vintage programmes, rare photographs or cherished souvenirs, and share their treasures with fellow speedway enthusiasts.
