Wokingham borough council is looking into more detailed plans for an outdoor sports hub at Grays Farm, off Heathlands Road to the south of Wokingham.
Several options are on the table an the council is now discussing the best way forward.
If planning permission is granted, work could start in early 2027 with the first games taking place at the site in early 2028.
It would include grass and all-weather pitches for various sports plus a pavilion, car park, green space and good walking and cycling access.
Funding will come from housing developers’ contributions and possibly grants from outside bodies like the Football Foundation.
The council bought the site for sports facilities in 2014, having agreed to new provision alongside new homes at north or south Wokingham.
Any proposal that goes ahead will meet Sport England specifications.
