Sonning Common & Peppard A hit the top of Division One as they beat their C team away 9-1.
Only Danny Dockree contributed for the hosts as he edged out Jason Roberts 6-11 13-11 11-6 9-11 11-8, while Ed Lush and Gary Morgan remained untroubled for the A team.
Kingfisher A, who lie second with a game in hand, also played at Sonning Common & Peppard this week as they ran out 8-2 winners over their B team.
The home side could only muster up two players but both Tom Astle and Tim Raby won over Kingfisher’s reserve Adrian Cretu to save face while Hari Gehlot and Martin Adams did the rest of the damage for Kingfisher A.
Sonning Sports A climbed the table as they convincingly won over Sonning Common & Peppard D 9-1.
Graham Diplock achieved his first maximum as Paul Savage also succeeded in winning all three having edged out Nigel Maltby 11-6 7-11 11-3 9-11 12-10.
In another close encounter Malcom Gregory avoided the whitewash for SCP with a fine victory over Nick Sears.
Reading FC Community Trust extended their lead at the top of Division Two with an 8-2 win at Springfield A with both Mike Childs and Anthony Alleyne getting maximums.
Tidmarsh C had a good 6-4 win over Kingfisher G helped by Simon Craig’s second maximum of the season and two wins from Ian Wu, while Pangbourne WMC had a hard fought 5-5 draw with Tilehurst RBL B, Kate Maksimenko recording a maximum for Tilehurst.
Pete Bradley was making his first appearance of the season for the Tilehurst team and was unlucky to lose two very close sets.
Kingfisher F beat bottom side Kingfisher H 10-0 although the match was much closer than the score suggests with the H team’s skipper Rupesh Ahluwalia just missing out in two sets that went to five.
In Division Three there were five games played, just before the mid-season break. Sonning Common and Peppard E beat Tilehurst Methodists B 7-3.
Jim Warren and Jeremy Willis had their trebles which were important for the comfortable win. Our Lady of Peace C hosted Sonning Sports B and won 9-1.
With this win, and with two games in hand, they are second in the table and closing the gap with leaders very fast. Despite the high winning margin, the match was not one-sided, especially in the doubles where the home team won in the fifth in deuce.
Leaders Kingfisher I drew 5-5 with Our Lady of Peace B again. This was Kingfisher’s second draw of the season and both have been against OLOP B.
Eyup Odemis was the star of the match with his comfortable treble which was crucial in this close battle. Kingfisher J got their very first win (6-4) against Our Lady of Peace D. Eapen John had another treble which eventually paid off and helped get his team’s first win.
Fresh player Peter Wilson joined him with two wins. Tilehurst Methodists A won 6-4 against Tidmarsh D.
Captain Eric Van Looy was back with a treble after the hip injury. Jacek Krzyzanowski joined him with two wins. The highlight of the match was the doubles game where the home team won in the fifth coming from 0-2 down to win 10-12 7-11 11-7 11-8 11-3.
A Mick Mitcham hat trick helped Kingfisher K beat Kingfisher L 6-4 in their Division Four derby encounter.
Our Lady of Peace F lost 7-3 to Sonning Common & Peppard F, despite a maximum from Gopi Ponnapalli that included inflicting a first defeat upon Sonning Common’s Gerry Bacon 8-11 11-7 11-8 11-9 as well as defeating Graeme Streets 11-8 12-10 14-12.
Springfield C had a brilliant 6 4 win over leaders Sonning Sports D, thanks mainly to a treble from Ludo Coulliard which included beating 100% man James Miller 11-6 4-11 13-11 5-11 15-13. Despite a Stephen Reader treble, Sonning Sports C lost 7-3 at Springfield B.
