Funding from The Arts Society Wokingham has helped students at Foundry College put on an end-of-year exhibition of artwork at South Hill Park.
Desiree Collison, the school’s art and craft teacher, said: “Not only does The Arts Society Wokingham’s kind donations support the students’ art and craft, but it also gives them other valuable life opportunities; team working, improving their communication skills, and building their confidence.”
This year’s exhibition was based on three themes, Foundry Face Off, Lollapalooza Landscapes and The Blast Sessions.
The flexibility and freedom of these themes enabled the young people to explore them in any way that they wished (as long as it was appropriate) with some artists chosen by pupils such as Andy Warhol, Clarissa Rose, Gideon Rubin and Polina Bright.
Students experimented with different materials and tools whilst on their individual and sometimes very personal journeys. The result is some very diverse and thought-provoking pieces.
Funding for this project came from the Society’s own funds and a grant from The Arts Society national fund.
The Arts Society Wokingham supports its partner schools, Foundry College, Maiden Erlegh School and St Crispin’s School as part of its Young Arts initiative.
The Society believes in helping and encouraging young people to expand their horizons and realise their personal potential through involvement in creative arts activities.
