Hull City boss Tim Walter showed his disdain for Reading’s playing style as the Royals came out on top in a pre-season friendly.
The Royals were victorious over the Championship outfit in their final pre-season game as goals from Ben Elliott and Sam Smith gave them a 2-0 success.
Speaking after the match, Water said: “What should I say? It’s a friendly and they played like it was the world championship final.
“No excuses, no excuses, but it was a bit hard. Especially playing with some slaps in the face and maybe also in a friendly you can punish them more with the cards.
“It’s the style of playing. Maybe in League One it’s the style they will play. We have a different style and we stayed strong and we kept going, playing that style.
Ruben Selles’ side have enjoyed a strong pre-season campaign despite off field issues not yet being resolved.
A takeover is in advanced stages as Rob Couhig looks to complete a purchase of the club from Dai Yongge, but currently Reading are the only club in the entire Football League who have yet to add a player to their senior squad.
The Royals will begin their League One campaign ion Saturday away to Birmingham City. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports (5.30pm).
