Wokingham Town Football Club returned from its league match at Egham last Saturday with more than just three points.

The club won 1-0, a victory that also saw the Sumas bring home a trophy.

President Mark Ashwell explained: “I purchased the trophy more than 20 years ago when Wokingham Town was groundsharing with Egham, after leaving our Finchampstead Road home.

“We agreed to play for the trophy every time Wokingham and Egham met in a competitive fixture.”

Despite victory in Surrey last season, the trophy remained in the boardroom in Egham.

Last Saturday’s league victory saw it liberated, and return to Berkshire.
