This week marks the 100th anniversary of the unveiling of the war memorial in Wokingham town hall.
Records show that its unveiling was reported on February 16, 1924.
Paid for with public subscriptions, it was the final part of a piece of work creating a memorial to those of the town who gave their lives in service of their country. The other aspect of this work was the Orthopaedic Clinic in Denmark Street.
Residents and visitors will have the chance to view the memorial, along with other historical artefacts relating to the history of the town, during the next Museum Open Day, which will take place at Wokingham Town Hall on Monday, February 26, between 10am and 2pm.
The memorial is also available to view by appointment at other times.
