A charity has praised the great fundraising ‘dancing in the aisles’ support a community gives them.
An evening of music and dancing at St Nicholas Church, Hurst, raised almost £3,200 to be shared between the church and CLASP to support Wokingham Borough people with learning disabilities.
Twyford-based band The Walnuts and Woodley band The Hagen Brothers led the fun for the event.
St Nicholas churchwarden Sue Payne and singer with The Walnuts, Matt Allwright, presented £1,600 to CLASP (Caring Listening and Supporting Partnership) at The Bradbury Centre, Wokingham last week.
Head of CLASP, Debs Morrison, said: “We are blessed to have so much great support from the Hurst community, with such fun attached, and in particular Matt and Sue. The donation is amazing, so much we will be able to do. A big thank you is not really enough.”
CLASP members added their thanks. Nikk Brown said: “We are moved beyond words for all the generous and heartfelt support you have given us.
“We are all about CLASP being recognised as people first who might just need extra time and support. You definitely share our ethos and are now part of our family.”
And Barbara Peterson said: “Thank you very much for all the help you give us at CLASP and all the things that you bring to us.”
The rest of the money raised has been given to St Nicholas Church, built in the early 13th century.
