A CONCERT of Fables and Other Tales will provide a summer’s afternoon of good listening, tea and cake.
Twyford Singers’ concert at St Mary’s Church, Twyford is on Saturday, June 22 at 3pm. Refreshments in the interval are included in the ticket price.
Singers chairman Ann Pearce said: “We have a lovely mix of music in the concert including lots of fun. There are much-loved folk songs, and the humour of two nursery rhymes, Sing a Song of Sixpence and Little Jack Horner, set in the style of German-British composer George Frederic Handel.
“There’s the chance for the audience to join in with a performance of Drunken Sailor/Drop of Nelson’s Blood.
“And we’re visiting wisdom from Ancient Greece by performing settings by modern composer Bob Chilcott of some of Aesop’s Fables.”
Judith Creighton will accompany the concert.
The choir enjoys social events together as well as singing.
Last Friday, they held their annual dinner at Hennerton Golf Club at Crazies Hill. Ann Pearce presented the choir’s longest standing member, Kathleen Cosnett, with a bouquet of flowers.
The choir welcomes new singers of any level of experience. You do not need to be able to read music and the choir does not hold auditions.
If you don’t read music there are learning aids such as rehearsal tracks on the website.
All they ask is that you can sing in tune, learn your music and make a commitment to attend rehearsals on a Tuesday, from 7.45pm to 9.45pm at St Mary’s Church, Twyford.
There will be a break before the autumn rehearsals start.
Anyone interested can visit for an evening’s rehearsal and decide whether they would like to join. Details and contact information are on the choir’s website by visiting http://twyford-singers.org.uk/WordPress2018/become-a-member
