Easthampstead Golf Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the publication of a history book.
The club, which is based at the Downshire Golf Complex in Bracknell, supports many charities and plays an important role in the local community. The aim of the club is to afford members the opportunity to play friendly and competitive golf at a cost that suits your pocket better than private golf clubs.
The club has produced a book to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
With the intriguing title ‘Bizarre Night Rituals’ it is the history of the club from its beginning in 1975 to its 50th Anniversary in 2025. The book captures the initial birth of the club through the eyes of the founder members and what it was like to be playing golf at the club in the early 1970’s.
Progressing through the years, the achievements of members, the eclectic mix of competitions, social activities and its personality are presented.
The development of the club is described, together with the Captains, Presidents and Notable Members.
Special rounds are highlighted alongside the club trophies and tours. Easthampstead Ladies and the Juniors are also featured.
There are even chapters on the club badge, EGC on TV and the varied social side of the club. The appendices include a brief history of the Downshire Complex and a comprehensive Roll of Honour documenting the winners in over 2000 competitions. It’s a good read that embraces the character and vibrance of Easthampstead Golf Club.
The book has taken over two years to compile. The hardback book with dust cover is 210+ pages printed in full colour on silk paper. It is 210mm square with a gold embossed title on the outside hard cover. The book contains many photographs depicting the last 50 years.
