Building for the Future, Our House, Wokingham’s accessible play centre for children with disabilities, is always looking for kind, caring and committed volunteers.
We have roles within our fundraising, marketing and also our play schemes ready for keen volunteers.
We are looking for volunteers to help at various groups we run from Our House in Wokingham; Ladybirds (under fives) Friday 9.30am-11.30am. Approx two per month, Saturday clubs 11am-1pm (quiet session) 3pm-5pm (active session) – we run two clubs on two Saturdays per month.
Our House is a unique and accessible play centre for children with any disability. These are not respite sessions as parents are always in the building, but a willingness to play and ensure the children have the most fun they can have is vital.
Please contact us even if you can only commit to one session a month. Coming on board with us will be very enjoyable and rewarding.
Sue Ryder support people during a difficult time in their lives and help them to do the things that matter most to them.
We are looking for Volunteer Befrienders to help us do this. We take a person-centred approach to all our services which means each befriending relationship will be different. You might not have experience of everything on this list.
That’s fine; finding the right person is more important to us than ticking all the boxes.
We hope you’ll be: reliable, warm and caring, be able to relate well to other people, keep personal boundaries, be open minded to different lifestyles and values and enjoy volunteering independently.
We will provide all the necessary training before you start and then provide regular support in a way that suits you along the way.
Do you like being part of a team, getting fresh air and helping people in need? If so, then the Green ‘n’ Tidy gardening scheme could be the volunteer role for you.
Green ‘n’ Tidy provides a basic gardening service for elderly and disabled residents of Wokingham Borough who cannot maintain their own properties, do not have local family support and/or lack the financial resources to employ commercial companies.
This project does not compete with established gardening businesses as we are a charity and the team of volunteers provides basic gardening, including lawn mowing, hedge trimming and weeding, to vulnerable people in need.
In order to help far more clients across Wokingham Borough, we are expanding our scheme. To be able to do this, we need more help.
We are looking for volunteers to help an average of one morning per week, although we can be flexible with this, if you can only help two or three mornings per month for example.
If you are interested in any of these roles or would like to discuss volunteering in general, please get in touch with our Volunteer Services Manager, Helena Badger on 0118 977 0749 or email [email protected]. To see all of our volunteering roles, visit: www.volunteerwokinghamborough.org.uk
We are also holding another of Volunteer Fairs, this time at the new Twyford library on Tuesday, June 25, from 10am to noon.
The new Twyford library is based at the Old Polehampton Boys school, Polehampton Close, Twyford RG10 9RP. Pop in for an informal chat.
We look forward to seeing you there.
