Chris Bowring is looking to defend his seat which he won in 2015, having previously been a councillor for Evendons, both for the District Council and its successor.
However, the Lib Dems came close to winning here in 2019, and again last year, so they will fancy their chances, especially as their candidate, Jordan Montgomery, has seen his vote share increase. Last year, he polled 1,042 votes, while David Davies won the seat with 1,200 votes for the Conservatives.
With the Greens not standing, where their votes go could be the decisive factor.

The candidates
Chris Bowring, Conservative

Chris Bowring is seeking a further term representing Wokingham Without on the borough council.
He has three principal policies.
Firstly, to develop the Pinewood Centre, the pride and joy of the ward.
The current leases are being renegotiated currently, but subsequently Chris will take a leading role with the clubs and both the parish and borough councils in improving the facilities on offer.
Secondly, it is of great concern to Chris that the Lib Dem-led coalition has stalled the development of the Local Plan. This puts at risk the preservation of green spaces in the ward by speculative development being granted by a government inspector at appeal.
The process must be progressed with urgency.
Thirdly, there are dangerous potholes in the ward which need fixing.
Chris is pleased to see that a stretch of Nine Mile Ride is to be resurfaced in the next twelve months, but he will be looking for some of the extra £1 million promised by the Conservatives to be directed to Wokingham Without for the benefit of all road users.
Jordan Montgomery, Lib Dem

I have lived in Wokingham Without since I was nine, having gone to Oaklands and Edgbarrow Schools.
I know this area extremely well and have a deep admiration for our community.
I have been campaigning here with the Lib Dems for over 10 years.
I hope to use my experience as a Parish Councillor, health researcher, community sports coordinator, and years working in Local Government to be the representative that this area needs.
I will work to fight for the issues that residents and I care strongly about; stopping overdevelopment, improving road safety, addressing the climate emergency, and reducing wasteful spending.
Rona Noble, Labour
