MORE Than 100 supporters and friends celebrated the power of community impact at a charity event in Wokingham.
The Link Visiting Scheme’s Thank You Day gathered more than 100 supporters, volunteers and community partners for a special event at All Saints Church.
It was an opportunity for The Link to recognise the generosity, commitment and community spirit that make its work possible, and the positive differences being made for older people across the borough.
John Mallaghan, Chair of The Link, said: “The event felt really special and it was fantastic to meet so many of our supporters and to thank them for the positive difference we’ve made together.”
Guests heard about The Link’s past, present and future work supporting older people through friendship, connection and meaningful activities.
And they were able to speak directly with staff and volunteers about the charity’s projects and plans.
A highlight of the morning was the collection of pledges from guests, demonstrating strong community backing for The Link’s mission. These pledges ranged from fundraising and volunteering to spreading the word about the charity and its work.
Among those pledging support was Cllr Alwyn Jones, Deputy Mayor of Wokingham Town Council, who committed to give the charity his time and commitment over the following twelve months and beyond.
The pledges reflect a growing momentum behind The Link’s work and the willingness of local people and leaders to play an active role in reducing loneliness and strengthening community connections across Wokingham.
The Link Visiting Scheme is a registered charity supporting older people across Wokingham Borough by fostering friendship, reducing isolation and building meaningful connections within the community.
