A WOKINGHAM care home brings ‘magic’ to the lives of its residents in the form of a hand crafted digital games provider.
West Oak Care Home says that its digital rainbow table offers a unique way to improve quality of life for people with dementia.
A member of staff at West Oak said: “You can always tell where the rainbow table is by the laughter.”
The equipment uses interactive games to connect people in the mid-to-late stages of dementia, with each other, their family members and their friends.

It can be played independently or in a group, and stimulates movement by inviting participants to take part in a range of activities, including matching games, playing the piano, colouring in pictures, and interacting playfully with fish.
Games are rich in colour, movement and detail, and allow people of all ages to play in a safe and comfortable environment as its features stimulate cognitive function, memory recall and sensory experience.
When asked, residents said: “I love playing on that table,” and: “We like doing the matching game together.”
West Oak Care Home, run by Barchester Healthcare, provides nursing and dementia care from respite to long term stays.
