Reading FC fans favourite Amadou Mbengue strengthened his already excellent relationship with the supporters as he joined them in Club 1871 for the team’s draw with Stevenage.
The Royals defender has become an extremely popular figure since joining the club in 2022 And is now a mainstay in the side.
Mbenue is likely to miss the rest of the season due to injury, but manager Noel Hunt did state that he might return in time if the side make the League One play-offs.
However, the injury hasn’t stopped Mbengue from winning over the fans once again as he made his way in the South Stand to join the supporters in Club 1871 before the home match with Stevenage and was seen meeting fans and joining in with chants.
The 23-year-old defender joined the Royals back in 2022 On a free transfer from Metz
He has more than 100 appearances for the club and has become renowned for his passionate celebrations at the end of matches whenever the team wins.
Mbengue has been used in a variety of different roles during his first few years at Reading, playing at full-back and occasionally defensive midfield during his debut season.
In the past two seasons he has formed a superb partnership at the back alongside Tyler Bindon which has allowed Reading to form a strong spine as the club battles for a place in the top six.
Following today’s 1-1 draw with Stevenage, Noel Hunt’s Reading side are in 8th place in League One and two points off the play-off places with nine games left to play.
