A BOROUGH author will read from her new children’s Christmas book in Wokingham.
Tina MacNaughton will host a free children’s story time event, as she reads from her latest publication, Christmas Socks.
“It’s an endearing traditional rhyming story about making do and mending,” said Tina.
“Joyful and funny, it tells the magical adventure of a patched up sock that gets transformed into a Christmas stocking.
“And a cheeky little mouse has an adventure throughout the story, running around and popping up in surprising places.”

Tina says rhymes can help young children to read, to listen and to focus.
A practising acupuncturist, she began writing during the pandemic.
“This is my first children’s book, but my third Christmas publication,” she said.
“The first, A Covid Christmas Fairy, was written for my adult patients during lockdown, and led to me publishing a book of poems and a novel.”
Producing Christmas Socks has been very much a family affair.
“My graphic designer and artist son Michael created all the illustrations for the book,” she said.
“He was away travelling at the time, so we discussed his drawings and ideas over the internet.
“It was a wonderful way to keep in touch, and the resulting illustrations are lovely.”

As well as from her book, Tina will read Christmas stories and poems of other classic authors, and at the end of the half hour event, there will be an opportunity to buy a personally signed copy of Christmas Socks.
“I wanted to give something back to the community, so this event is free,” she said.
“And people can buy the book if they wish.
“It’s a limited edition, and I will be selling copies at borough fairs in the run up to Christmas, but people can contact me to buy one too.
The event, which must be pre-booked, will take place at Wokingham Library, on Monday, December 2, at 3.45pm.
