WOKINGHAM Borough Council has apologised for people caught up in a mix-up during the rollout of new parking charges.
Fees rose at the beginning of the month in council-owned car parks across the borough, and there have been a host of teething troubles including people trying to pay using the Ringo mobile phone app.
Now, it has emerged that fees were mistakenly added to the former library car park in Twyford.
In his capacity as ward member, Cllr Stephen Conway shared on social media that several residents had contacted about the parking fees, and the council’s highways team had added this car park in error.
The new charges were meant to be for the Polehampton car park only.
The library car park is for people using the library, and volunteers dropping off or picking up visitors to the Age Concern day centre.
Cllr Paul Fishwick, the council’s executive member for highways, told Wokingham Today: “The rollout of the new parking timetable and costings started at the beginning of July.
“We are aware of a couple of hiccups in the implementation and can confirm these were dealt with swiftly.
“We apologise for anyone who was inconvenienced by these.”
