AN ADULT social care company is set to extend its provision in the borough.
Optalis, which is jointly owned by Wokingham Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, is celebrating ten years this year.
As part of its service expansion, there will be specialist accommodation provided for 39 vulnerable residents.
And a new nursing strategy will be implemented, which includes building a specialist dementia nursing home by 2023.
David Birch, Optalis chief executive officer, says the company’s tenth anniversary was a chance to reflect on its past and look to the future.
“Our future is an exciting one, with both our shareholder councils committed to putting more services into Optalis and investing in the work we do,” he added.
Cllr Charles Margetts, executive member for adult services and public health, sees Optalis as an extension to the borough council.
“Our relationship with them is evolving,” he said. “We’re working collaboratively to bring positive change to the borough’s residents.”
