A CHRISTMAS concert has produced a present of its own: donations to local charities.
Members of Wokingham Choral Society made presentations to three groups at a rehearsal held earlier this month.
Representatives from WADE, Keep Mobile and WCS’s charity of the year, Crossroads Care, received the donations which came from the profits of the group’s Christmas concert.
A total of £472.50 was given during a retiring collection for the performance, which included JS Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and was held at the University of Reading’s Great Hall.
Conducted by Patrick Allies and accompanied by Benedict Lewis-Smith, the choral society was joined by professional soloists for the date.
Their rehearsals take place at The Emmbrook School in Wokingham on Thursday evenings.
Now they are preparing for their next concert, a performance of Handel’s Messiah, which will take place at the start of Holy Week, on Saturday, March 24.
A pre-concert talk from 6.30pm will be followed by the concert at 7.30pm.
It will once again take place at the Great Hall and tickets cost £15.
