A WOKINGHAM church has welcomed its new minister for pioneering and youth.
Wokingham Baptist Church celebrated the ordination and induction of Revd Savannah Bell as she starts in her new role.
She said: “it was such a wonderful weekend full of celebrations.
“I felt so loved and supported by my church family and community, and I was so encouraged to have friends and family visiting too.
“I’m really looking forward to this next chapter of my ministry, particularly being able to continue to build on the existing relationships we have locally.
“I’m so excited that the church has created this new leadership role; it creates opportunities for us, as a church family, to give energy and resources to draw alongside those in our community who need to encounter God’s love, who may not otherwise do so.”
Savannah has been working for the church for the past ten years in various roles, starting as a youthwork intern when she was 18, and then more recently as the church’s youth worker.
In that time she has volunteered in a number of Wokingham’s primary and secondary schools, and recently took up the role of chaplain with Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service at Wokingham Fire Station.
Over the past four years she has undertaken training to become a Baptist minister, specialising in pioneering and community work.
Two weekend services where Savannah was ordained, and then inducted into the church, were led by Revd Clare Hooper, co-team leader of Southern Counties Baptist Association. They were attended by people from the church and across the Wokingham community, including representatives from local schools, charities, and the Fire Service.
