Winner: Michael De Ocampo
The Community Carer of the Year award, sponsored by Alexandra Grange was won by Dunlin Care’s Michael De Ocampo.
Michael was praised for going above and beyond to support the family who he helps care for.
He supports the family four times a day and always has a glowing smile on his face which spreads to others he is surrounded by.
Their company ethos is ‘helping the person to be as independent as possible, giving support and encouragement and being there for the whole family.”
Having won the award, Michael told Wokingham Today: “I really didn’t expect this, I’m just so happy.
“It was a big surprise to hear that I had been nominated. It’s a rewarding job everyday and so rewarding in the way that they appreciate me.”
The nomination came from the daughter of the parent who Michael cares for and said: “The whole team are kind, patient, compassionate and the family simply couldn’t cope without them at this difficult and challenging time.
“They literally help Dad to be where he wants to be, at home. Sometimes thank you isn’t enough.”
“I always make sure that I make time to have a chat with the whole family and listen to them and their situation.
“I feel absolutely amazing.”
