AUGUST bank holiday weekend can only mean one thing: festival time. No, not that one down the road in Reading, but Wokingham’s very own musical celebration.
The annual event returned to Cantley Park on Saturday for three days of bands, food and drink.
More than 40 acts were booked across the weekend, including headliners Tankus The Henge, Caravan and Funkin’ Souled Out.
Appearing on the Trademark Windows main stage, they wowed audiences with their sets.
Also performing on this stage across the weekend were Leoni Jane Kennedy, The Skangsters, Moonage – The Best of Bowie tribute band, Vintage Sound Collective, BJ Bevy, and Kyros.
A second stage was dedicated to up-and-coming talent from the local music scene.
The Wokingham Music Club stage included Rila’s Edge, Solar Culture, James Hollingsworth, Lilac, Who Ate All the Crayons and One Last Day. A silent disco was also part of the fun.
There is more to the festival than just music.
A bar was run by the team from Twyford Beer Festival. It stocked a wide selection of specialist craft beers, ciders and perries from local and national breweries. The volunteer-run stall raised funds for male cancer charity Orchid.
There was also a cocktail bar, and numerous food stalls offering everything from street food to ice creams.
Entertainment for younger attendees came from Circus Scene, which offered its usual array of activities, skills sessions and giant bubbles.
In a statement on social media, the organising team said: “Thank you to all who came along, and all who helped make this year’s festival happen. We had a blast, we hope you did too.”
Now, the team are planning for next year’s event.
