A CHARITY that provides emergency support in life-threatening situations has received a significant donation from Wokingham Lions.
At a meeting held earlier this month, the fundraising group presented a cheque for £6,000 to Thames Valley Air Ambulance representative Nicola Bishop.
The money was raised from the annual firework display, held at Cantley Park last November.
As part of her thanks, Ms Bishop, the charity’s community fundraising officer, gave a short presentation on its work to those present. She explained that, often within minutes, Thames Valley Air Ambulance can bring the expertise, equipment and treatment of the hospital to the most critically ill and injured patients across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
Wokingham Lions president Andy Goffin said: “We are pleased to support the Thames Valley Air Ambulance with our share of proceeds from last November’s Fireworks event.
“This organisation provides vital, life-saving assistance to those in need of an air ambulance.”
And Ms Bishop said the charity relies donations from the public.
“Without the support of our community, we would not be able to bring hospital-level care to our patients, whenever and wherever they need it,” she explained.
“That’s why I was delighted to accept this incredible gift from the Wokingham Lions Club, which will help us to be there for people when the worst happens.
“Your support powers what we do – thank you.”
