A WOKINGHAM woman is preparing to launch a new group aimed at reducing loneliness among women.
Rachel Bradley is heading up the Reading Tribe of the female collective Girl Tribe Gang and its first meeting takes place next week.
The national initiative was founded by former NHS strategist turned female-focused psychotherapist and mum-of-four Catherine Asta Labbett.
It is a national community of women who work for themselves, either full- or part-time or who aspire to quit the 9-5, with a mission to reduce isolation and loneliness and to support and nurture entrepreneurism.
Ms Bradley has worked as a PR for L’Oréal and Wella before becoming a mum. Two years ago, she launched Gossip Girl PR.
Now, she’s about to launch the alternative to traditional corporate networking. She says the philosophy is ‘no suits, no corporate nonsense, no breakfast meetings, no sticky name labels, no eating in front of strangers, no board tables, no awkward introductions, and no death by PowerPoint presentations.
Ms Bradley added: “I’m reaching out to find all those like-minded women in my community, women who are working from their kitchen table or home office doing work that works for them and bringing everyone together.
“Girl Tribe Gang is all about creating a community of like-minded women, a level playing field and an eco-system of support and encouragement amongst women who totally get what it feels like to be on your own in business or aspiring to one day quit the nine-to-five.”
Founder Asta Labbett said: “Girl Tribe Gang is enjoying roaring success and is growing at a phenomenal rate.
“We share knowledge, skills and support each other and it’s a community that we all hugely value. I’m sure there are lots of women in Reading who would benefit from the same thing, and I’m so excited to see who Rachel discovers.”
The meeting takes place on Wednesday, January 30, from 7.30pm at Fora Reading in Thames Tower, opposite Reading’s railway station.
