A Wokingham pub has announced it is set to close next month.
In a statement on its Facebook page, The Gig House in The Plaza on Denmark Street, revealed it is set to close on July 14.
It said: “For nearly 20 years, The Gig House, formerly JD Wetherspoons, has been a part of Wokingham town.
“Having been privately owned since 2018 following the departure of Wetherspoons, the venue has sustained the COVID-19 pandemic and a cost-of-living crisis, while adapting to life in a newly regenerated town centre full of vibrant new businesses.
“Over the years, The Gig House has been a place many would have enjoyed a night out, a reunion with old school friends, or live music from some amazing local artists.
“As a business, we have certainly had our ups and downs, but we truly want to thank the Wokingham community for its continued support and custom during this time.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce, as of July 14, The Gig House will be closing its doors.
“After nearly 20 years of service in the community, it’s time to bid farewell to a place that holds memories for many of our local residents and beyond.
“Named after its history in Wokingham, The Gig House has been in the heart of local nightlife since day one.
“If you grew up in the area, you’ve likely made countless memories here, under our ownership – and before.”
For this reason, the owners are inviting people to join them to celebrate The Gig House’s historym and giving the venue the send-off it deserves.
They added: “Our closing party will be on Saturday, July 13,, and we’d love to see all of you there to share this final chapter.
“As we close our doors, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support.
“The Gig House has been a beloved part of Wokingham’s fabric, and we are proud to have been part of this vibrant community.”
The Gig House will remain open to cheer on the England football team in the Euros.
