A WOKINGHAM town centre restaurant is seeing stars – five in fact – after receiving top marks for its standard of food hygiene.
The Sultan restaurant and Sultan Café in Market Place, which reopened this year after a six-digit refurbishment, scooped the top rating after a visit by inspectors from Wokingham Borough Council.
Raja Majid, Sultan owner, said: “We’re delighted to receive this rating and it’s a testament to all the hard work everyone at the Sultan has put into making the reopening a success.
“We hope that alongside this top rating from the council our customers will give us top marks as well.”
Sultan is Wokingham’s oldest family-run Indian restaurant. It was forced to close due to the Covid pandemic before reopening at the beginning of the year. In March, Sultan Café was launched on the ground floor of the premises.
Sultan café offers a wide range of coffees, speciality teas and freshly squeezed juices, together with quick bites, Indian lunchboxes, cakes and milkshakes. It’s also licensed so customers can enjoy something a little stronger as well.
