VEGANS AND vegetarians of Wokingham were in for a treat as a brand-new market opened in the town centre.
Undeterred by the blustery, wet weather, residents explored the unique offerings of the Vegan Market, which opened on Sunday, October 13.
A plant-based diet is on the rise across the UK, with the numbers of vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians growing over recent years.
At the market, there were a range of local businesses that have capitalised on this growing lifestyle change.
From freshly baked goods to handmade soaps, candles and even a low-calorie, gluten-free beer, there was plenty for residents to browse and buy.

Hot food on offer included plant-based burgers and hotdogs, pan-Asian cuisine and a vegan take on mac n’ cheese that uses soaked cashew nuts and butternut squash as a base for the cheese-like sauce.
Founder of Sparkle Vegan Events, Sarah Zeneli said: “I am so pleased that the first-ever Wokingham Vegan Market went brilliantly. Despite the rain, the turnout was fantastic and attendees’ spirits were certainly not dampened!
“We have received extremely positive comments about the atmosphere and the wide variety of stalls. Many of our traders sold out and can’t wait to return.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone again for our next market in November, for our Christmas special in December and then on every second Sunday of each month.”
